# Tasks FAQ

> Quick answers to the things customers ask us most.

  <Accordion title="If I create a task that isn't mapped to a requirement, does it still track?">
    Yes, it still tracks as a task, but it proves nothing against a framework. Map it to a requirement if you need it to count towards compliance. See [Creating custom tasks](/tasks/creating-custom-tasks).

  <Accordion title="Who should I assign a task to?">
    A named person. Tasks are assigned to people, not to roles or groups, so before someone leaves, filter by *Assignee* to find their tasks and hand them on. See [Task management](/tasks/task-management).

  <Accordion title="Do I have to manually mark every task complete?">
    No. Most tasks resolve on their own once the document behind them is approved. A record task, with no document to approve, is marked done directly. See [Completing a task](/tasks/completing-a-task).

  <Accordion title="When do product-specific tasks appear?">
    Once you map a framework to that product. Any that haven't been added yet are listed under **Show missing tasks** on the framework's page. See [Product-specific tasks](/tasks/product-specific-tasks).

  <Accordion title="What happens to a product's tasks if I remove the product?">
    The confirmation lists every task associated with the product, all selected for deletion by default. Deselect any you want to keep before you confirm. See [Product-specific tasks](/tasks/product-specific-tasks).

  <Accordion title="What happens when I complete a recurring task?">
    Its due date moves forward by one interval, so the next round is already scheduled. See [Task management](/tasks/task-management).

  <Accordion title="What does Generate do for the suggested policies?">
    It opens a bulk dialog with every suggested task pre-selected, and generates documents from their templates in one pass. Treat each result as a first draft to review, not a finished policy. See [Completing a task](/tasks/completing-a-task).
